Description of the genus

Trees. Leaves alternate, lamina simple, margins entire. Inflorescence terminal panicles; flowers regular, 5-merous; sepals and petals imbricate; petals adnate to base of sepals. Fruit drupe; seed lacking endosperm.

Worldwide: 6 species; New Guinea to New Zealand.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
