Description:
Succulent shrub, sometimes climbing. Stems glabrous, with persistent leaf scars. Leaves succulent, terete, slightly curved, sessile, clustered near the branch apices, up to 9 × 0.5 cm; apex acute, mucronate. Inflorescence a corymbose panicle. Capitula 12-17 mm. Phyllaries 5-8, 12-15 mm. Rays present, yellow.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: barbertonicus: from Barberton in Mpumalanga, South Africa, where the type specimen was collected.
Habitat: On granite kopjes and in rocky places.
