Description:
Erect to semi-procumbent herb up to 1.3 m; stem fleshy, hairless or sparsely pubescent, sometimes rooting from lower nodes. Leaves ovate to rhomboid, 2–20 cm long, 3-veined from base, hairless or almost so, base sometimes forming narrow wings along petiole; margin crenulate to serrate; petiole 0.7–4 cm long. Inflorescence bracts 0.6–5 cm long at nodes of inflorescence branches. Capitula few to many, c. 3–5 mm long, 4–5 mm diameter when mature; stalks of individual capitula 1.2–2.5 cm, glandular-pubescent; phyllaries 2–3 mm long, flat; margins entire or ciliate, pubescent near the base. Florets c. 30–42, white, 1–1.5 mm long. Achenes 2.2–3 mm long, becoming brown, tuberculate and glandular with maturity; pappus of 3 pegs, less than 1 mm long.

Habitat: In shade in wet soils, often near streams and sometimes in water.
