Normally found in lower rainfall areas than subsp. bainesii, from which it is distinguished by slightly wider, narrowly elliptic leaves, which are not markedly revolute and its more erect habit. Otherwise similar to subsp. bainesii. |

Habitat: | A grassland species on granite or serpentine soils, occurring on the Great Dyke and the central plateau. It is also found in miombo woodland. |
