Description: |
Usually a shrub, sometimes a small tree. Bark smooth, pale grey; young branches with soft woolly stellate hairs. Leaves alternate, oblong-obovate, 5-18 cm cm long, 3-veined from an asymmetric base, often abrubtly pointed at the apex, green and nearly hairless above, paler and finely greyish hairy between the veins beneath; margin toothed: petiole up to 1 cm long, with small tufts of stellate hairs. Flowers in 2-3-flowered axillary clusters, c. 3 cm in diameter, bright yellow, showy in profusion. Flower stalks and back of the sepals with distinct small scattered tufts of short rusty hairs. Fruit almost completely divided into 2 separate spherical lobes, each part up to 1.3 cm in diameter, yellow when ripe. |
