Description: |
Succulent shrub up to 2(-4) m tall. Stems branching from the base and leafless almost up to the base of the peduncle. Leaves decussate, lamina 2.5-10 × 3-6.5 cm, obovate to oblong-obovate or subcircular, fleshy, glabrous, glaucous tinged with red. Inflorescence a cyme, up to 20 cm in diameter. Flowers pendulous. Calyx glandular-pubescent; lobes 6-10 mm long. Corolla 2.5-3.7 cm, deep red, orange-red or coral-red, glandular-pubescent; tube strongly swollen and 5-angled below and contracted above the sepals.Nectar-scales oblong, tubular above, widened and irregularly lobed at the margin. |
