Description: |
Much-branched prostrate to erect annual herb, often straggling or sprawling with 4-angled stems up to 1.5 m long. Most parts of the plant thinly to densely covered in whitish hairs. Leaves variable from broadly ovate to narrowly lanceolate-oblong or elliptic, 1-15 cm long, more or less densely covered in whitish hairs on both surfaces; petiole 0.4-2 cm long. Inflorescences terminal, spike-like, 1.25-2 cm wide and up to 8 cm long, white to pale green or crimson to maroon; bracteoles ending in a long spiny tip. Flowers minute embedded and hidden in dense whitish hairs. |
