Description: |
Decumbent to suberect annual herb, 12–60 cm long. Leaves variable in shape, ovate to elliptic or oblong in outline, 1–6 cm long, with scattered grey hairs on both surfacea; margin normally with 1–5 coarse teeth on each side; lower leaves sometimes subentire or entire. Flowers clustered in leaf-axils, upper clusters male or mixed, lower female. |
Notes: | Although Flora Zambesiaca claims the type specimen is from South Africa and suggests the species is native most sources say the species is native to Australia and has been an introduction in Africa as well as North and South America. |
