Description:
Stems spreading or pendent to 1–3 m long, hairless but densely lenticellate. Leaves mostly opposite, linear-lanceolate to elliptic-lanceolate, 5–21 cm long, leathery, dull green, lateral veins in 4–6 pairs, lower ones strongly ascending, leaves sometimes glandular-hairy when just unfolding; petiole 5–12 mm long. Flowers in several 2–4-flowered umbels per axil and at older nodes; peduncle 1–5 mm long; pedicels in sockets, 0–2 mm long; bract cup-shaped, 2–3 mm long, with small triangular limb. Corolla tube 3–4 cm long, pink outside, generally spotted white, redder along filament lines inside, head of bud greenish-white, darkening, lobes green to black inside; basal swelling ellipsoid-obovoid, 4–10 mm long, tube constricted for 3–5 mm above; lobes 9–10 mm long, reflexed. Stamen filaments red. Style with neck 2.5–3 mm long; stigma capitate. Berry oblong-ellipsoid, 10–12 mm long, red; calyx persistent.

Habitat: In miombo woodland; almost always on Brachystegia or Julbernardia.

Worldwide distribution: Angola, southern DRC, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and northern Botswana.
