Description:
Very small, slender terrestrial up to 35 cm tall, leafless at flowering time. Inflorescence up to 10-flowered, often secund. Flowers drooping. Sepals somewhat spreading, yellow-green, marked brownish inside. Petals yellow-green, overlying the column. Lip 3-lobed, white; midlobe with 3 ridges of papillae. Spur c. 3 mm, spherical at the the tip.
Notes: This is one of the smallest and most inconspicuous species in the genus, often less than 15 cm tall, and likely to be overlooked.
Derivation of specific name:
Habitat: In miombo woodland, often on granite hills and rocky kopjes.
Altitude range: (metres) 500 - 1500 m
Flowering time:Nov - Dec
Worldwide distribution: DRC, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe distribution: N,C,E,S
