Description: |
Terrestrial herb, 30-65 cm tall, growing from a fleshy underground rhizome. Leaves 4-5 in a fan, linear, up to 35 × 0.8 cm, ribbed, sometimes only partly developed at the time of flowering. Inflorescence laxly 3-13-flowered. Sepals dark purple to purple-brown, erect, spathulate, 14-21 mm long. Petals deep pink to purple-pink, up to 18.5 × 12.5 mm, elliptic, overlying the column. Lip 12-19 mm long, obscurely 3-lobed, deep pink to purple-pink, with a callus of 2 fleshy ridges in the mouth of the spur. Spur saccate or conical, 4-8 mm long. |
Notes: | Despite the well researched history of Besna Kobila, the specimens in the photographs are the first records, not only from that location but from the entire Western Division. |
