Description:
Small epiphytic herb. Stems 1 to several, usually pendent. Leaves succulent, alternate, bilaterally flattened, overlapping. Inflorescence a terminal spike of 60-70 minute flowers on a thick fleshy rhachis, Flowers less than 2 mm across, creamy yellow to orange.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: disticha: in opposite rows, distichous; referring to the 2-ranked leaves
Habitat: In riverine or evergreen forest and in high rainfall Brachystegia woodland.
Altitude range: (metres) 430 - 1200 m
Flowering time:Feb - Mar
Worldwide distribution: Central, East and Southern Africa, Madagascar, the Comoro and Mascarene Islands
