Description: |
Slender perennial herb, up to 45 cm tall, growing from a vertical, subglobose rhizome, 1.5-3 cm long. Leaves 4-14, linear, up to 40 cm long, hairless or with 2-armed hairs on margins and midrib beneath. Inflorescences 1-6, 15-20 cm long, appressed hairy, 1-4-flowered; pedicels 12-40 mm long, appressed hairy; bracts 5-17 mm long filiform, shorter than the pedicels. Flowers yellow, 10-18 mm in diameter. Capsule turbinate-cylindric, 5-15 mm long, thinly hairy. Seeds dark brown, papillose with 4 wing-like ribs on each papilla. |
Notes: | The specimens in the photographs (Ballings & Wursten 728 & 1164) have been compared to specimens in both SRGH and BR and they most closely resemble this species but seeds were not seen to comfirm. |
