Description:
Perennial herb, growing from small corms arising from a rhizomatous base. The plant smells strongly of garlic. Leaves linear, up to 38 cm. Inflorescence 4-10-flowered. Flowers greenish-white with a fleshy, cylindric, orange-red corona. The perianth lobes are more or less inflexed, almost tubular at anthesis. This species is very similar to T. alliacea.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: leucantha: white-flowered
Habitat: In wet places in grassland and open woodland, often on sandy soils.
