Description:
Perennial herb growing from a globose bulb, 2.5-3.7 cm in diameter. Leaves 4-10, basal, terete, erect, 7.5-10 cm long, normally gone before the stems appear; scape erect, 7.5-30 cm tall including the inflorescence; peduncle as long as the panicle, sometimes spirally twisted; panicle, 7.5-25 cm long and broad, very lax, with zigzag rhachis, slender, spreading, or ascending; pedicels 1-2.5 cm long. Flowers bell-shaped, 0.4 cm long; segments oblong-obtuse, white or yellow, with a distinct brown keel; capsule ellipsoid, 4-5 mm long.
Notes: For now we have treated Schizobasis intricata as a broadly defined variable species as suggested by Manning, Deacon & Goldblatt (2014) and Stedje (pers. comm. 2019) and have included S. angolensis Baker as a synonym.
