| Description: |
Small annual herb, mostly less than 25 cm high, growing in loose tufts. Leaves in two rows, mostly 2-6 cm long, hairless but finely wrinkled. Peduncle mostly up to 20 cm long, 2-winged, especially towards the apex, finely wrinkled. Inflorescence subglobose, c. 3 mm in diameter. Sterile bracts smooth, wine-red to reddish-brown; fertile bracts keeled, pale brown with a darker keel. Lateral sepals folded, pale brown. Corolla with tube 2 mm long and lobes suborbicular, c. 1.8 mm wide, yellow. |
