| Description: |
Perennial 0.4─1.2 m tall, with stiff spreading rhizomes, stems many-noded with swollen bases, triangular, glabrous. Inflorescence compound, open with terminal cluster of several sessile spikelets and with small heads of 1─3 sessile spikelets, the heads on unequal branches 1─3 cm long. |

| Notes: | We are grateful to Dr Jane Browning for pointing out that the Bolboschoenus found in inland locations such as Zimbabwe is in fact B. glaucus and not, as previously thought, B. maritimus (L.) Palla. |
