Description: |
Caespitose perennial. Culms 150–400 cm high. Leaf laminas 4–15(25) mm wide, narrowing to the midrib near the base. Panicle 20–40 cm long, narrowly oblong to narrowly ovate, bearing racemes 1–7 cm long. Spikelets 3–6 mm long; callus beard 1/4–1/3 the length of the spikelet, less prominent than the glume hairs. Inferior glume densely pilose. Superior lemma entire and awnless, or bidentate and bearing a straight or weakly geniculate awn up to 7 mm long. |
