Description:
Mat-forming, creeping perennial, arising from stout rhizomes. Culms up to 50 cm. The inflorescences are usually paired, occasionally 3, each 2.5–12 cm. long. Spikelets borne singly in 2 rows on a narrow rhachis. Spikelets 2.5–3.8 mm. long, broadly elliptic, plumply plano-convex, green. Superior glume and inferior lemma cartilaginous, glabrous. Superior lemma pallid at maturity.

Habitat: Introduced for grazing and erosion control. It is found as an occasional escape of disturbed places, often found in lawns and on road sides, mainly in and around urban areas.
