Tufted perennial. Culms 25–120 cm. high. Leaf laminae 3–17 mm. wide, broadly linear. Inflorescence of (3)5–10(15) racemes, these 1–6 cm. long, bearing spikelets singly on a ribbon-like (1–2 mm. wide) rhachis, its margins ciliate with bright yellow tubercle-based hairs up to 6 mm. long. Spikelets 2.5–4 mm. long, pubescent, obtuse. Inferior glume 2/3–3/4 as long as spikelet, 7–11-nerved. Superior lemma finely striate or rugulose. |
