Description:
Densely caespitose perennial up to (and sometimes even exceeding) 120 cm tall, erect; leaf lamina tightly convolute, up to 65 cm × 2.5 mm (when expanded), glabrous below, shortly pilose or glabrous above.Panicle up to 22 cm long, lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, loose to somewhat contracted.Spikelets 12–16 mm long; glumes narrowly lanceolate, 1-nerved for most of their length but with short lateral nerves below; lemma body 3.5–4.3 mm long, with 2–3 tufts of hairs near each margin and in the middle of the back, the lobes acuminate, up to 5 mm long; central awn geniculate, up to 12.5 mm long.
