Description: |
Tuber to 3 cm in diameter, spherical. Leaves of different forms but normally erect (see A. rehmannii for comparison), 4-25 cm, filiform to subtrigonous or expanded into an erect spathulate lamina up to 17 × 4.5 cm, with base and apex attenuate or rounded. Spikes 2-4(-9) × 0.8(-2.5) cm, forked; the peduncle not enlarged above. Perianth segments 1,2 or 3, white pink or mauve, becoming green with age. Stamens usually 6. Carpels up to 7 in lower flowers, usually 3 in upper. Follicles 3-5 mm, green. |
