Description: |
Rhizome c. 1 mm diameter, shortly creeping to ascending; scales brown, entire, lanceolate, up to 1.5 mm long. Fronds pinnatifid, tufted, erect, sessile or subsessile, subcoriaceous. Stipe short, less than 1/7 the length of the lamina or included in the lamina. Lamina up to 70 × 4 mm, linear in outline, deeply pinnatifid into oblong lobes, glabrous on both surfaces, midrib dark brown to blackish; veins free, ending in a conspicuous pale hydathode on the upper surface. Sori round to elliptic, one on each lobe next to the midrib. |
Notes: | Only recorded once from southern Africa on Mt. Inyangani, Zimbabwe. Distinguished from other species by having subsessile fronds that are incised almost to the midrib and a shortly creeping rhizome. |
