Trailing or climbing herbs or erect subshrubs. Stipules peltate, lanceolate. Leaves glaucous, pinnately 3-foliolate. Flowers 2-4, borne at the apex of axillary peduncles. Calyx with upper pair of lobes joined. Standard circular with 2 basal appendages, auriculate; wings upwardly spurred at the base. Ovary with 5-6 ovules. Style thickened above, the upper part bent through 180 degrees with 2 stigmatic surfaces on the inner side. Pods linear to ± cylindric, 2-valved. Worldwide: 2 species, one in southern Africa; one in Madagascar Zimbabwe: 1 taxon. |
