Perennial herbs, dying back each year, with corms.
Foliage leaves several, in a distichous fan. Inflorescence composed
of several rhipidia; rhipidia several-flowered; spathes herbaceous.
Flowers actinomorphic, often dull-coloured and speckled, usually
unpleasantly scented. Style branches 3, flattened,
finely fringed above; stigma lobe abaxial at base of the
fringe. Anthers appressed to the style branches. Fruit a
capsule. Worldwide: 10 species in tropical and South Africa Zimbabwe: 1 taxon. |
