Perennial herbs with decumbent or prostrate stems up to 30 cms long. Leaves opposite with blades of various shapes and toothed edges. Flower heads solitary in the leaf axils each having 3-8 pale yellow ray florets. Disc florets 10-20 bisexual, fertile, yellow. The fruit is a flat achene with a pappus of 2 or more stout awns.
