Description of the genus

Shrubs. Leaves alternate, linear. Capitula discoid (in ours), in terminal corymbs. Phyllaries in 4-5 rows. Receptacle without scales. Ray florets (if present) female; disk florets bisexual with 5-lobed corolla. Achenes with 10-18 rounded ribs, papillose; apex with a thickened rim. Pappus 0

Worldwide: 18 species in southern (mainly South) Africa

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
