Description: | Showy handsome evergreen liane which can attain 8 m. Leaves digitate with (3-)5(-7) leaflets; leaflets sessile, glabrous, lanceolate, glossy, entire with undulate margins. Inflorescences of large axillary dichotomous cymes; peduncles as long as the petioles. Sepals coriaceous, concave and glabrous. Corolla funnel-shaped, deep rich rose, ruby-red to magenta, 4-7 cm in diameter. Fruit subspherical, 1.3-1.6 cm long. Seeds dark brown, 6-7 mm long bearing a crown of tawny silky hairs. |
