Description: | Medium to large evergreen tree. Young leaves deep purple-red, the colour persisting for a while but eventually turning green. |
Notes: | S. guineense is probably one of the most variable tree species in Africa and the taxonomy of many subspecies and varieties has been described, revised and debated, a process that is still bound to continue for the foreseeable future. |
