Description: | Small to medium-sized evergreen tree. Leaves opposite, sessile, successive pairs at right angles, elliptic, oblong to almost circular, crowded near the ends of branches. Flowers in branched terminal heads, creamy-white, sometimes pinkish, the large number of stamens being most conspicuous. Fruit an oval berry, up to 1.5 cm, deep purple to almost black when ripe, edible. |
