Description: Dense, multi-stemmed shrub or small tree. Leaves opposite or subopposite, elliptic, shiny green above. Flowers in axillary rounded heads, unpleasantly scented, creamy-white to yellow. Fruits 2-3-winged (rarely 4 or 5-winged), greenish-yellow, drying to light brown.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: myrtifolia: leaves like the Myrtle (Myrtus communis)
Flowering time:Nov - Apr
Worldwide distribution: Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal South Africa.
Growth form(s): Tree.
