Description: | Shrub or small tree. Leaves large, up to 15 × 15 cm, broadly ovate, 3-5 lobed with rough hairs on both surfaces. Flowers in many-flowered axillary heads, showy, pale to deep pink, 3-5 cm across. |
Notes: | The flower dries while remaining on the tree to form papery wings, which act as an agent for seed dispersal by wind. |
Derivation of specific name: | burgessiae after Miss Burgess of Birkenhead. |
