Description: | Medium to large evergreen tree. Leaves imparipinnate with 3-4 pairs of leaflets and a terminal leaflet. Leaflets opposite or alternate, obovate to oblanceolate, glossy green above, glabrous or somewhat hairy below; margins entire. Flowers in short axillary sprays, creamy white; petals more than 2 cm. Fruit a spherical, velvety capsule, c. 3.5 cm in diameter, splitting into 3-4 valves, revealing black seeds, largely hidden in a bright orange-red aril. |
