Description of the genus

Herbaceous climbers. Leaves alternate. Capitula heterogamous, radiate, long-pedunculate. Phyllaries in 1 series. Disc florets bisexual, actinomorphic, 5-lobed. Ray florets female; rays orange.

Derivation of name: from Greek pseudes meaning false ,or resembling, Gynoxys, a South American genus of compositae.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
