Description of the genus

Shrubs or small trees. Leaves simple, alternate. Flowers axillary, nearly regular. Sepals 5, usually basally connate. Corolla tubular, almost campanulate; lobes 4-6, spreading, nearly equal. Ovary superior 2-5 locular. Fruit drupaceous.

Worldwide: 30 species endemic to Australia and the Pacific Islands.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
