Description of the genus

Trees, unarmed. Leaves alternate, without stipules. Flowers in axillary pedunculate cymes. Calyx in segments, thick, with an elevated medial line, deciduous after flowering. Petals shortly unguiculate. Disc fleshy, coating the calyx tube, surrounding the ovary, densely woolly. Fruit a drupe, nearly dry, 3 celled; endocarp thin, brittle. Seeds hard.

Worldwide: 7 species from India to Japan.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
