Perennial hairy herb up to 2 m high, sometimes woody at the base. Leaves broadly ovate to orbicular, up to 20 cm. long, palmately lobed, petiolate. Heads numerous in a terminal panicle. Involucre 9-11 mm long; bracts in 1 row. Ray florets 4-6; rays bright yellow. Disc florets 10-15, yellow. Pappus up to 10 mm long. Worldwide: Over 50 species, many of which used to be in the genus Senecio. Native to South West USA, Mexico and Central America. Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon. |
