Ornamental garden shrub or hedge plant; aromatic, evergreen, with glossy, dark green foliage; the small, lanceolate leaves end in a horny point; the flowers are small, white, solitary and axillary.

Worldwide: 2 species in the Mediterranean, N Africa and Asia.

Zimbabwe: 2 cultivated taxa.
