Perennial herbs. Leaves compound, imparipinnate with stipules. Inflorescence of long-peduncled racemes with small bracts. Calyx tube broadly campanulate; lobes triangulate, equal; standard narrowly obovate, tapering to the base; wings oblong to nearly linear, usually shorter than the keel. Fruit indehiscent, transversely segmented ultimately separating into 2 joints. Worldwide: About 200 species native to Asia, Europe, North Africa and North America. Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon. |
