Petals 4 (or 3 in male flowers), clawed. Stamens up to 8. Ovary 3-locular. Fruit a bladder-like capsule. Seeds black. Derivation of name: Named after Joseph G. Koelreuter, 1734-1806, professor of natural history at Karlsruhe Worldwide: 3 species in China and Taiwan Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon. |
