Description of the genus

Evergreen shrubs with square stems, fragrant. Leaves linear, entire, with revolute margins. Calyx 2-lipped, with large entire upper lip, and narrower 2-lobed lower lip. Corolla pale to deep mauvish-blue, strongly zygomorphic, with 2-lobed upper lip and 3-lobed lower lip; stamens longer than the corolla, Fruit nutlets.

Worldwide: 2 species in Europe and the Mediterranean region

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
