Description of the genus

Creeping perennials. Leaves with long petioles, rotund or reniform. Flowers small, blue, usually 3 per axil. Calyx 15-nerved, slightly oblique at the throat; 5 lobes about equal, triangular to linear, the mid-nerve of each excurrent into a short awn; corolla 2-lipped, the tube much longer than the calyx, gradually distended distally, the upper lip shallowly 2-lobed, the lower lip much larger.

Worldwide: 8 species native to northern Asia and Europe.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
