Description of the genus

Lianas, climbing or creeping, rarely erect; stems glabrous or pubescent. Leaves opposite, pinnate; leaflets 1-7 pairs. Inflorescence racemes few-flowered, short, pendent; cauliferous or axillary. Flowers showy, calyx equally 5-lobed; corolla pink campanulate, lobes unequal. Fruit capsules linear-terete, sometimes sub-tended by persistent calyx, flattened, stipitate, loculicidally dehiscent. Seeds orbicular, winged.

Worldwide: 5 species in Malesia, Australia and New Zealand
