Description of the genus

Woody climbers. Leaves opposite. Inflorescence of terminal or axillary loose cymes. Corolla salver-shaped; tube cylindric; lobes oblong, overlapping to the right; short broad scales present in the throat. Stamens inserted above the tube; anthers united round the stigma and adherent to it. Ovaries 2 with many ovules per loculus. Fruit of two elongated terete follicles.

Worldwide: 20 species occurring from India to Japan; one in the SE USA.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
