Description of the genus

Shrubs or trees. Leaves alternate, variously and sometimes deeply pinnatifid. Inflorescence many-flowered (in ours). Flowers bisexual, zygomorphic, paired in the axil of each bract. Ovules 2. Fruit a follicle. Seeds winged.

Derivation of name: for Charles Francis Greville, 1749-1809, English politician and horticulturist.

Worldwide: 260 species, Australia, New Guinea, New Caledonia and Indonesia.

Zimbabwe: 4 cultivated taxa.
