Description:
Herb with prostrate or climbing stems up to 6 m long. leaves more or less broadly ovate in outline, up to 4.5 × 5 cm, unlobed to 3-5-lobed with triangular lobes, cordate at the base, shortly rough-hairy; margin finely toothed; petiole 0.8-1.2 cm long. Flowers unisexual, sometimes occurring together in the same axils. Male flowers 3-5 in axillary clusters on peduncles 3-11 long; petals 2.5-3.2 mm long, yellow-green. Female flowers solitary, subsessile with a densely hairy ovary; petals 2-4 mm long. Fruit ovoid, beaked, 16-20 mm long, shortly and densely rough-hairy, red.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: limpompensis: of the Limpopo River in Mozambique where the type specimen was collected.
Habitat: In Acacia bushland.
