Description:
Medium to large tree. Milky sap present. Leaves crowded at the ends of branches, obovate-oblong, markedly discolorous, dark green above, covered in silvery-white velvety hairs below; midrib and petiole yellowish; margin entire. Flowers creamy-yellow in small axillary clusters. Fruit ovoid or ellipsoid, upto 1.3 cm long, green turning yellow when ripe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: discolor: not of the same colour, referring to the sides of the leaves.
Habitat: In evergreen forest.
Altitude range: (metres) Up to 2000 m
Flowering time:Jun - Sep
Worldwide distribution: Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal South Africa.
