Description:
Perennial herb or somewhat scrambling subshrub. Leaves pinnate, usually with some hairs on the rhachis, stipule large and leaf-like (see the first photo). Flowers in terminal racemes, varying in colour from nearly white to deep purple-pink, occasionally yellow. Pods papery, conspicuously veined with only one side impressed over the seeds.

Habitat: On roadsides, cultivated ground and seasonally wet grasslands. It is also found in miombo woodland and on termite mounds.
