Description:
See subsp. juncea for general description and comparison. This species can only be distinguished by the very rough-skinned, warty fruit.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: juncea: Juncus- or rush-like;
crustata: rough-skinned or hard-skinned, referring to the surface of the fruits.
Habitat: Mainly in dry deciduous woodland.

Worldwide distribution: Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
