Description:
Prostrate much-branched perennial herb, often mat-forming. Leaves opposite, narrowly oblong-elliptic to oblanceolate, up to c. 6 cm long, Hairless or thinly hairy above, with long hairs below and on the margins. Inflorescences terminal, subglobose to cylindrical, up to c. 5 cm long and c. 1.3 cm wide, white.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: celosioides: like a Celosia, another genus in this family.
Habitat: In disturbed ground, roadsides, lawns and cultivated areas.
Altitude range: (metres) 400 - 1600 m
Flowering time:Sep - Feb
Worldwide distribution: Native of South America, but nowadays a weed of disturbed places throughout the tropics and subtropics.
